The Badger Creek Project is a 46 MW simple-cycle, cogeneration facility located near Bakersfield, California, that commenced commercial operation in April 1991. The Project is owned by Badger Creek Limited, L.P., in which Atlantic Power indirectly owns a 50% general partnership interest. Juniper Generation, which is indirectly owned by ArcLight, and John Hancock Life Insurance Company, indirectly owns the other 50%.
Electric power generated by the Project is purchased by Pacific Gas & Electric Corporation (PG&E) pursuant to a power purchase agreement that expires in 2012. Process steam from the Project is sold to OXY USA Inc. under an agreement that expires in 2011. Badger Creek is a partner in a joint venture natural gas pipeline and can also access PG&E as a back-up fuel supply.
