The Curtis Palmer facility consists of two run-of-river hydroelectric generating stations located on the Hudson River that commenced commercial operations in their current configuration in 1986. The Curtis station, located 2,700 feet upstream of the Palmer station, has an output of 10.8 MW. The Palmer station has a capacity of 48 MW. Atlantic Power indirectly owns a 100% ownership interest in the facilities. Curtis Palmer holds a 40 year hydroelectric license from the FERC.
The Curtis Palmer facility sells its output to Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation under a fixed price power purchase agreement that expires the earlier of 2027 or delivery by the station of 10,000 GWh.
Atlantic Power operates and manages the facility. The project joined Atlantic Power as a result of our acquisition of Capital Power Income LP in November 2011.
